Wakatu Quay - Kaikoura

LandLAB have recently completed documentation for Wakatu Quay on the Kaikoura waterfront. This project draws on the sites unique waterfront geology and ecology to establish a new sequence of spaces that supports the transition of the site from a working wharf to a new civic and community destination.

The concept design links the Kaikōura township to Wakatu Quay with a broader urban view of ‘site’. It will activate the senses and enable a close connection with the sky, the mountains, and the sea (the life blood of Kaikōura) – a new destination that embraces and responds to its coastal environment.
