Realigning infrastructure and landscape to unlock Queenstown’s town centre.

Queenstown Arterials is a transformative enabling project that restructures movement around the town centre to prioritise public life. By diverting general traffic away from Stanley Street, the project unlocks the spatial and economic potential of Queenstown’s historic core — enabling pedestrian-focused streets, public realm investment and long-term urban regeneration.

The strategy responds to Queenstown’s constrained topography and growing visitor economy. The new Melbourne–Henry Street link redistributes traffic flows, relieving pressure on the town centre and establishing the structural conditions required for the Queenstown Town Centre Masterplan to be realised. Movement infrastructure becomes the catalyst for place transformation.

LandLAB provided urban design and landscape leadership to integrate transport engineering with town centre identity. The project aligns with broader corridor strategies extending from Ladies Mile through Frankton and into the CBD — ensuring the arterials function not as isolated roads, but as part of a cohesive regional mobility network.

Queenstown Arterials operates as enabling infrastructure - a strategic recalibration of movement that makes possible a slower, more walkable and more vibrant town centre. It demonstrates how transport projects can act as urban armature, structuring growth and improving civic experience rather than just moving vehicles.
